Bennett

Young Bennett and his wife, Allie, came to Cataloochee from East Fork on the Pigeon River. Their known children are:

Sylvanus; died at the Battle Chickamauga, September, 1863

Archibald; died of wonds received at the Battle of Murfreesboro; at the time of his death, he was married with two children

Wash

Amanuel

Newton; married Jalie Gillett; had six children; captured at Cumberland Gap; was POW at Camp Douglas, Illinois

Creighton; married Louisa Matilda Colwell (daughter of Levi Colwell); captured at Cumberland Gap; died at Camp Douglas, Illinois

The following are other Bennett's who lived in Cataloochee. They are most likely descendants of Young Bennett and were living in Cataloochee at the time when the park took over.
